What a Garage Floor Coating Costs in Murrieta: Ranges for Every Garage Size

Epoxy Floors Ridge Murrieta turns the cost of a Murrieta garage floor into a rate per square foot, a slab surcharge and a few flat options, then multiplies it out for five common garage sizes so a written bid has something to be held against.

Why one city has so many different slabs

Murrieta counted 1,628 residents in its first census after incorporation and 110,949 in the most recent one. Nearly every house in between was built on a slab poured at some point in those thirty years. Slab age is the quiet variable in a coating price: a pour from the 1990s may have cracks and paint, one from the 2000s may carry a builder's sealer, and a recent one may need a moisture answer.

All figures here use one formula, so any bid can be run through it:

total = (system rate + slab surcharge) × square feet + flat options

The rate card

Per square foot, installed:

  • Flake (chip) epoxy, full broadcast: $6–$9
  • Polyaspartic flake, epoxy base with a polyaspartic top coat: $7–$11
  • Solid-color epoxy, optional grit: $4–$7
  • Metallic epoxy: $9–$13

Slab surcharges, added per square foot to the rate: minor cracks, pitting or small spalls $1–$2; old coating or paint to remove first $2–$5; heavy oil stains or a slab that tests damp $2–$4; a sound slab adds nothing.

Flat options: coating the stem wall $150–$400, entry steps $100–$250, extra crack repair $100–$300, a custom flake blend $100–$300, moisture primer after a failed test $400–$1,000, moving the contents out and back $150–$350.

For a cross-check, a home-services price guide for Murrieta quotes $6–$9 per square foot and $2,900–$4,600 for a 500 square foot garage, which is the flake band above.

Totals for the five garage presets

Sound slab, no options. Presets are one car at 240 square feet, two cars at 400, three at 700, four at 900 and five or more at 1,200.

Square feet Solid color Flake Polyaspartic flake Metallic
240 $960–$1,680 $1,440–$2,160 $1,680–$2,640 $2,160–$3,120
400 $1,600–$2,800 $2,400–$3,600 $2,800–$4,400 $3,600–$5,200
700 $2,800–$4,900 $4,200–$6,300 $4,900–$7,700 $6,300–$9,100
900 $3,600–$6,300 $5,400–$8,100 $6,300–$9,900 $8,100–$11,700
1,200 $4,800–$8,400 $7,200–$10,800 $8,400–$13,200 $10,800–$15,600

The smallest floors carry the same set-up work as the biggest, so they sit nearer the top of their range.

A flake floor, 400 square feet, six scenarios

Every row starts from the full-broadcast flake rate of $6–$9.

  • Sound slab: $2,400–$3,600.
  • Minor cracks (+$1–$2): $7–$11, or $2,800–$4,400.
  • Old coating to remove (+$2–$5): $8–$14, or $3,200–$5,600.
  • Oil or damp (+$2–$4): $8–$13, or $3,200–$5,200.
  • Sound slab with a stem wall ($150–$400): $2,550–$4,000.
  • Sound slab with moisture primer ($400–$1,000): $2,800–$4,600.

The jump between the first row and the rest is the slab, not the coating.

Using the formula on a real bid

Check that the bid states the square footage, that any crack, removal or moisture work shows on its own line, and that extras such as a stem wall or custom blend are priced separately. A figure far under the matching range is a prompt to ask about grinding and thickness. A figure far over is a prompt to ask what else is in it.

These numbers are market estimates for Murrieta. The installer measures the floor and tests the slab before pricing the actual job.
